The aim of this stud book is to categorise Leonbergers in Australia in chronological order and provide basic information about them. Leonbergers are still a very rare breed in this country with only 177 officially registered since 1989, although we know that there are at least 40+ more un-registered, plus 1 unregistered litter in Queensland and therefore we have 195 Leonbergers listed on this Stud Book.
Current live population is estimated to be about 128.

As of today, 29th September 2008, this stud book lists all Leonbergers currently registered in Australia including all re-registered imports and a few non-registered imports.

Stud Books can only be as useful as the information supplied, therefore it is very important for breeders and owners alike to submit all health details of their dogs.
