Mission Statement

The Leonberger Association of Victoria is a non-profit making organisation whose aims are :-

  a) To promote the Leonberger breed to the general public.

  b) To encourage all members to be active participants in their club..

  c) The conservation and improvement of health and well-being of Leonberger dogs.

  d) To work towards preventing hereditary diseases which may affect the Leonberger breed..

  e) To make members aware of the laws and regulations of the state in regard to dog ownership and an owner's responsibility             for the conduct of their dogs.

  f) To facilitate contact between fanciers of Leonberger dogs and breeders.




The Association attempts to achieve these aims by:-

  a) Holding meetings of the Committee of Management and General Meetings to discuss matters which affect the welfare of the
       Leonberger breed and their owners.

  b) Holding Leonberger events such as fun days, breed shows and other such events which the membership may wish to include.

  c) Publishing a club newsletter and keeping the public informed of current events via the club's website.

  d) Informing members and promoting any seminars about genetics and dog breeding, which the VCA hold from time to time.

  e) Maintaining an open register of health checks such as hip scores, elbow scores, eye tests and any other health checks
      that have been carried out on members' dogs.

  f) Supplying information about purchasing, suitable housing and fencing requirements, training, education, importing, mating,
      breeding and other relevant details pertaining to the keeping and breeding of Leonberger dogs.

  g) Planning ways to help prevent hereditary diseases and the implementation of such schemes.

  h) Affiliating with the Victorian Canine Association..

  i) Providing members with a copy of the Code of Ethics and ensuring that its members abide by this code.

  j) Encouraging members to become members of the Victorian Canine Association.
